Verification Policy
What the four verification labels mean, who checks, how often, how a provider moves a listing from one level to another, and when a level is lowered.

What a verification label is
Every listing on HealthNaro carries one of four labels. A label is a statement about what HealthNaro has checked. It is never a statement about clinical quality, and it is never affected by payment, advertising or reviews. Each label stores the date of the check, who checked and a note of the evidence; the date is shown on the profile.
The four levels
1. Public listing
"Details come from public sources and have not yet been confirmed by HealthNaro. The provider can claim this listing to update it." This is the starting level for every listing imported from a public source or submitted through a form. Nothing has been confirmed with the provider yet. We do not use the word "unverified".
2. Contact verified
HealthNaro has confirmed the listing's phone number and email address with the provider. This normally happens when a provider claims the listing and confirms both through a code we send. A successful claim sets this level automatically. It never lowers a listing that already holds a higher level.
3. Reviewed by HealthNaro
A named member of HealthNaro staff has reviewed the profile for accuracy and completeness: name, address, contact details, services, opening hours and website, checked against the provider's own website, public registers and the records we collected. The evidence note records what was checked. Data that the HealthNaro owner reviewed while it was collected may be published at this level with the collection date and an evidence note. Where we review many listings at once, each change is uploaded as one row (listing, level, checker, date, evidence); rows without evidence are rejected and every change is written to the audit log.
4. Credentials verified
The practitioner's registration or qualification has been checked by a named member of staff against a public register (in Kenya, the Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council register) or against supporting documents the practitioner supplied. The date of the check is shown. This level is never set by an import or by software; a person checks and records the evidence every time.
How a provider changes a level
- From Public listing to Contact verified: claim the listing and confirm your phone and email.
- To Reviewed by HealthNaro: after claiming, complete the profile (services, hours, address, website) and ask for a review from your dashboard or by email. We check the details and record the evidence. There is no charge.
- To Credentials verified: from your dashboard, give your registration number and, where the register does not show it, upload the supporting document. We check it against the register and record the date. Documents are stored privately and deleted after the check according to the Data Retention and Deletion Policy.
How often we re-check
Contact verified and Reviewed by HealthNaro are re-checked at least every 24 months; Credentials verified is re-checked against the register at least every 12 months. A listing is re-checked sooner if a report is received, an email bounces, a phone number stops working, or the provider changes key details.
When a level is lowered
We lower a level when evidence turns out to be wrong, when a registration lapses or is suspended, when a report is upheld, or when a check is older than its interval and cannot be repeated. We tell a claimed provider by email and record the change in the audit log. A provider may ask us to re-check at any time.
What verification does not cover
We do not inspect premises, observe treatment, review clinical outcomes or assess quality of care. We do not verify prices, insurance acceptance or availability; these are shown only where the provider has supplied them and should be confirmed with the provider.
